This month has been tough. Not ‘I had a bad haircut’ tough but really quite truly awful.

Three things have happened in the space of three weeks which have tested my emotional strength. Normally I am used to physical pain which, though hard work, I have developed a coping mechanism. This pain is emotional pain and no amount of ibuprofen, diazepam or buscopan will touch this pain.

Firstly my cat died. This is a pain I’m sure many of you are familiar with. Saying goodbye to a furry loved one is never easy, especially one that has been with you since childhood. Marley came into my life at age 8, my parents had divorced and my now step-dad was new on the scene. He was not one for lap sitting, cuddles or any prolonged contact with his humans unless food was somehow involved. Every visit home these last few years…
